This toooot decided to send me off in the middle of the night ('cause it happened to be our 3rd month oops hehe)
Our shagged faces w/o proper sleep.
To those who haven't been to HK, or haven't discover new places to shop apart from famous Ladies Market and big shopping malls e.g. SOGO etc., here's a guide to all ladies (mostly ladies clothings) on where to shop for cheapest (e.g. Bugis street pricing)!
Touched down around 550am and went to eat breakfast straightaway after depositing our luggages at hotel. We stayed at Silka Seaview Hotel. We took City Express Bus from Airport, A21. It's only a 30 min ride from airport. (Never to take MTR from Airport 'cause its so troublesome to lug our luggage up the stairs. Stairs are quite a norm in HK MTR.)
As the hotel is located at Shanghai Street, we have to cross the road when we alighted at Yau Ma Tei stop. (Ask the bus driver on where to stop so that you'll not have to waste time missing/stopping at a stop earlier!)
A rather small hotel room as expected from all hotels in HK, but it is clean and it is really looks like a HOTEL (unlike those guesthouses in TST and Mongkok).
This is how small the room is. Just enough for two.
What i love about this hotel is that it is like a walk away from Yau Ma Tei MTR Exit C, 2 mins walk to a lot of eateries, esp famous claypot rice and dessert, as well as famous Mido Cafe (used for shootings in most hk dramas) and across the road it is the well-known Temple Street and a Chinese Temple called Tin Hau Temple.
We followed one of my friend's self-drawn map guide, where she told us to turn left when exiting MTR, but not towards Playing Field road, but to walk straight and cross the small road opposite MTR, passed by a cha chan teng and cross the road with traffic light, pass by a market and keep walking straight till we saw the sign of THW.
Not much hype here in HK tho? No crowd seeen queueing as bad as the one in S'pore. This outlet open the earliest at 8am!!
Remember to wash your utensils with the pot of hot tea provided! They will often put a bowl on the table, that is the bowl for dirty tea after you have washed with the utensils. Of course, you can drink the pot of remaining hot tea ('cause they do charge that per pax basis)
Being gluttons, we ordered so many at a go!!
A must to order in HK: Prawn chee cheong fun!
My favourite CHIX FEEET ALL BY MYSELF! (prefer those reddish ones tho)
Very fresh har gao!
Gui Hwa Gao! (refreshing dessert!)
The spring rolls were just fine.... not that nice.
Siew Maissss were delicious too!
Legendary pork buns!!! Crispy inside out and fillings are just enough together with thin outer layer of flour, unlike Sg's?
Ordered so much but the bill is only SGD $23+?
CHEAPPPP.
Chanced upon the HK Star, Laughing Gor but didnt manage to take pics with him, thus his car instead.
Shops in HK don't open so early as 10am so we headed to F21 @ Causewaybay as they are the earliest of them all.
Back to Mongkok for shopping! First stop: Argyle Centre - Mongkok MTR Exit B2
A place for Girls!! Prices are like Bugis Street's or even cheaper. Shorts for like less than $10?
It's airconditioned somemore and it is 4 stories high?
This is like cold noodles! They called it "LAO MIAN" 捞面! Only 5 HKD for 3 bags of noodles + ingredients and you get to choose your own ingredients like octopus, crabmeat, hotdog. It's one of the "IN" things for youngsters in HK. Cheap and good. Not filling though. It's just their popular snack!
It can be found at the highest floor of Argyle Centre! (One of the corners!) Rmb to add a little spicy - 小辣 for the taste to be better!
Damage done within half of my first day!
Who don't love street food?!! A MUST TO when you're in any country!
Their curry balls really UP there!! I can't take spicy it's too freaking spicy for me!!!
My love: CHOU TOFU!!
I didn't like this in the past, but i don't know what has gotten into me when i began to like it two years ago....
Wanted to get some local delights and so we went to get ourselves bowls of....
WANTON SOUP!!!!
Dumpling Soup!!
Went back to Argyle Centre to shop further before we discovered this famous brand of 捞面!!
鸡蛋仔 for $2 SGD!!
My favourite nom nom snack!! (oops photobombed @ Ladies Market)
Just walk off when it isn't your desired price in mind. Trust me, the price they quote will get lower and lower, according to the distance you walked away from them.
Speak in English so that they will respect you. :)
Quote half of the initial price to see if they accept, otherwise, just head off.
Alright, here's my DAY 1 of HK trip!!
More tips to come in the next post! :)
